CHARLOTTE (Oct. 23, 2024) – TIH, the seventh largest insurance broker in the U.S., today announced that it has appointed its current President, Dave Obenauer, as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2025. John Howard, TIH’s current Chief Executive Officer, will transition to the role of Vice Chair. 

Obenauer joined TIH through one of its predecessor companies in 2007 and has over 35 years of industry experience. As President, he has helped build TIH into one of the country’s most successful brokerages through a focus on strategy, execution, teamwork, and a continuous improvement mindset.

As Vice Chair, Howard remains on the TIH Board of Managers, an investor in the company, and a strong supporter of its future growth. He will also continue serving on multiple industry boards and committees.

Obenauer holds an MBA from Wharton and a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University, both conferred with honors. He will continue to be based at TIH headquarters in Charlotte.
